As leaders, are you too busy putting out fires?

You may recognise the scenario as business owners, leaders, or managers, that you spend a lot of your week putting out fires. It is quite often the situation with people issues that they are urgent and require your immediate attention.  However quite often the solution is a plaster, and the same problem or scenario presents itself again.  If this is the problem you face, then it can really help to get to the root of the problem and put sustainable solutions in place, freeing up more of your time, and ultimately generating greater business performance.


The solution could be as simple as changes to policies and practices, or could be an organisational development review, which requires wider change.  An example could be constant dissatisfaction with pay reviews.  A review of internal practice, understanding best fit, external benchmarking and communication could make a significant difference.
